It makes me remember all those pinball golden days!!! October 29, 2008 This game is very good. The simulation is excellent, I would give it 5 stars if it emulated the tables at 100%. For example in Black Knight there are some events that are not emulated, when activating multiball, in the real table, the Black Knight spoke some words and all the lights went out, in this game, there is no speech neither the lights go out. Those are the only complaints I have about it, for the rest this is a very good emulation.
Tilt October 4, 2008 Being a big fan of arcade and home simulation pinball, I was really looking forward to The Williams Collection.
However, my expectations were not quite matched. For starters, I just didn't really like the look of the tables. I wished they had used digitized images of the tables rather than using polygons.
Secondly, the feel of the tables is a bit too off for me. I much prefer the physics of the Pro-Pinball series. Lastly, I was dissapionted not to see Mars Attack, Monsters, and few others on this collection.
Otherwise, It was nice to have 8 tables and multiple views of each table. I also enjoyed the sound effects.
Because of the lack of any pinball simulations on the market, I'll still recommend this title. Nice to relive some arcade memories and also enjoyable as a multiplayer game.
Virtual Reality September 21, 2008 One of the best games I've ever played and the best pinball video game I have ever played! This game goes beyond the Gottlieb Collection, and I mean way beyond. The mechanics and physics are outstanding, so much, that at times it may feel better than real pinball.
You can adjust camara views, tilt, and the Williams tables are much more advanced and fun! This game should be awarded, that's how good it is.
Worth Thrice the Price September 7, 2008 Goldurn this is a barrel of fun. You get 8 tables - some have to be unlocked, but I'm not sure how or which ones because I was too busy having fun with the tables I could play, and somehow unlocked the others. Then, on some tables, you have to unlock Free Play, either with 100 credits, or by completing all the table goals on any table. You earn credits by completing table goals and by matching at Game Over. In any case, it all becomes quickly irrelevant, because you'll get so addicted that everything more or less unlocks itself. When you beat the table goals, then there are wizard goals - beat those and you unlock things like custom balls, turn off tilt, etc.
Each table has explicit instructions in a QuickTime-esque walkthrough. If you've ever enjoyed a pinball table but wondered how in the heck you were earning extra balls and free games, this spells it out in wondrous detail, making playing the table that much more fun. You'll be amazed at how much more focused and accurate you can become when you're dying to hit the dummy in the mouth for a million, or pick up that last passenger.
There's not a table here I didn't come to enjoy. Almost, if not every table features the ability to go multiball, with various levels of difficulty. The highlight of the package is Funhouse - it's one of the most popular pinball tables of all time for a good reason. But even the late 70s games are a lot of fun. I find myself spending a lot of time with Firepower - the sparseness and clean goals are a world away from the mach 3 speed of Whirlwind. Which is what's wonderful about the package as a whole - no 2 tables are the same experience. Really underscores the genius of the designers of these things, to wring that much fun and variety out of a simple set of variables constrained to standard dimensions. And hats off to the programmers too, for incredibly capturing the action/physics/feel of pinball.
Fun, fantastic game for the entire family August 31, 2008 I bought this game mainly for myself and my 6 1/2 yr old son to play. Turns out, I like it more than he does! It is fun, fast and addictive. Love the choice of different machines to play on and the chance to unlock them and play in free mode. If I could change one thing it would be the delay between pressing the buttons and seeing the flippers move. Takes a little getting used to the adjustment time but once you do it si great fun. We have family tournaments and we each (5 of us but only 3 old enough to play right now but the others watch) have our own favorite table. Recommend to everyone who is looking for a good, clean, nonviolent video game that they can share with their kids, or for anyone looking to reminisce and enjoy a great game of pinball again.
