Amazon.com Product Description Super Bust-a-Move is an addictive puzzle game that has been enhanced for the PlayStation2. The gameplay is simple: players fire colored bubbles at a ceiling of more bubbles--when three or more of the same colored bubbles touch each other, they pop and disappear. This version has upgraded high-resolution graphics, thousands of new puzzle boards, and new characters and animations. Veterans of the series will delight in all-new secrets like tricky tiny bubbles, trapped bubble captives, and hidden characters. Other new features include conveyor-belt walls and changing backgrounds. Classic, normal, and training game modes are a precursor to the real deal--battle mode--in which players duke it out with a friend via split screen.

Good game, despite horrendous cover September 11, 2008 As an avid Bust-A-Move player I was wondering what the best version is. Well I haven't played all of them, since there's like a million, but I have played this one extensively and will say that it's pretty solid. The controls are spot on, the pacing of the classic mode is good, there's a whole nother classic mode to unlock, and the multiplayer is pretty great. I recently played Super Bust-A-Move 2 for the PS2 and do wish I had that version for the inclusion of a story mode, but overall I would say this game is pretty solid, minus the cover. (Which made EGM's 20 worst video game covers of all time) If you like Bust-A-Move then this game is worth it.
Fun May 25, 2008 This game is a lot of fun, it is not as technical as most of the new games on the market but the simplicity is part of what I like about it.

(This is a review that I originally wrote on 07/04/2003) --------------------------------------------------
I can't believe all the good reviews this game is getting. I just have to chime in with my opinion on this game. Simply put, they broke Bust-A-Move. They removed almost all of the game play modes; they removed the edit mode; they made the controls unresponsive (they take a second to respond); they added annoying and distracting backgrounds; the bubbles have been graphically-enhanced so they they, too, are now annoying to look at; they took away all the cool characters and added a bunch of Pokemon rejects; and they added a TON of long loading screens.
Most of that is pretty much self-explanatory, so I don't need to elaborate on it. However, I will give you a list of what few game play modes there are in the game:
- 1 Player: Training / Normal / Classic - CPU Battle: Normal / Expert - 2 Player Battle: Normal / Expert / Chain Reaction
Yup, that's it.
I rented this game to see if I had made a mistake buying Bust-A-Move 4 (for the Playstation 1). Well, I can tell you this, my purchase of Bust-A-Move 4 was definitely well worth it. I have Super Bust-A-Move 2 on my rental list. Although I suspect that it won't be much better than this one, I'll still be optimistic and give it a try.
If you want a good Bust-A-Move game to play on your Playstation 2, get yourself Bust-A-Move '99 or Bust-A-Move 4 (both for the Playstation 1). Both are essentially the same, though 4 adds pulleys to the puzzles. Sure the graphics look like they came off of a SNES, but is that really such a bad thing?!? The load times are short (to non-existent at times), the characters look cool (in that odd-Japanese way), and most of all, the controls are extremely responsive and there are a ton of game play modes.
Bust-A-Move February 23, 2005 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
GRAPHICS:
Colorful, eye-catching, and creative. The cute graphics easily put me in a good mood, though the moving backgrounds during gameplay can be a little bit distracting. Overall, I give the graphics an A+.
CHARACTERS:
Cute and funny, each with their own unique bubble pattern. I was disappointed in the selection of characters upon first purchasing the game, since I'd played a version of the game with cooler looking human characters. But over time I began to become attached to characters such as the mysterious acting "Miss T", and the adorable little kitty "Mog". The only down side to the characters is that they will occasionally be distracting, or they will block certain parts of the screen. I give the characters an A-.
GAMEPLAY:
The game is very simple. You just tap the arrow keys to position your arrow, then press "X" to shoot the bubble. The bubbles are different colors, and your goal is to get three or more of the same color together, which will make them blow up. The slightly harder part is keeping the bubbles from passing the line. It may sound complicated, but that's because I can't explain it very well. It is actually the easiest Play Station game I have ever played. But it is also addicting. I recommend playing it when you want something simple but fun. I give gameplay an A.
OPTIONS:
There are few options of gameplay. But the few options are fun, especially "Chain Reaction" in the two player mode. I give the options of gameplay a B+.
OVERALL:
An enjoyable game. I recommend it to kids, and adults (Considering that when we first bought it, my parents were addicted).

This games cover is a baby's head with glasses that sow the game and also has a red bubble in his mouth. How F---ing stupid!
